"Fiji was officially recognised by the World Time Zone Organisation as the first country to greet the new millennium....." (Pacific Business, Feb./Mar 1999). To commemorate this historic event, Post Fiji will release it's Millennium Stamps on 1 January, 2000. This is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you to own a set of the first stamps to be released in the world in the year 2000. The special postmark will feature Taveuni, the island in Fiji where the 180 degrees meridian crosses. The stamps will be canceled with this postmark at the stroke of midnight on this very island. Each set of 4 stamps and a souvenir sheet, enclosed in it's special Millennium Souvenir Stamp Pack will cost $USD30.
